第三部分:阅读理解(20小题;每小题2分,满分40)
A
A freedom fighter staying in a hotel found a parrot (鹦鹉) in a golden cage, repeating "Freedom! Freedom!"
The man thought, "I have seen many parrots, and I am sure a lot of them must want to be free from their cages, but I have never seen such a parrot whose whole day is spent calling out for freedom." He had an idea. In the middle of the night, when the owner was fast asleep, he got up and opened the door of the cage. He said to the parrot in a low voice, "Now get out."
But he was very surprised to see that the parrot just stayed in its cage. He said to it, "Have you forgotten about freedom? The door is open and the owner is fast asleep; no-body will ever know. You can fly into the sky; the whole sky is yours."
But the parrot just stayed where it was. The man said, "What is the matter? Are you mad?" He tried to take the parrot out with his own hands, but the parrot started pecking at him. The man was also stubborn (固执的); he was a freedom fighter.
